GIFT TO DEVONPORT.
LATE MR NAPIER'S LIBRARY.
AUCKLAND, Jan. 21. A generous gift of what is considered to bo ono of the finest private libraries in New Zealand was received by tho Devonport Borough Council last evening. Mr W. E. L. Napier, a member of the council, on behalf of his mother and family, stated that as a memorial to his father, the late Mr W. J. Napier, tho whole of his private library would be passed to the borough when adequate facilities were available to accommodate it.
A proposal to raise a loan for establishment of a municipal library will bo. submitted to ratepayers in other proposals next month.
