BULLETS FLY.
WET LIME STARTS EIRE. FUSILLADE OF AN HOUR. SYDNEY, Jan. 9. A fire with sensational conscquonces occurred at Kandos during the progress of a recent storm, when two inches, of rain fell within an hour. Tho water banked up to a shed at a timber yard in which was stored about half a ton of unslacked lime, some timber and about 7000 rounds of ammunition belonging to the local rifle club. The water found its way into the lime, producing spontaneous combustion, and within a few minutes the shed was ablaze. Every effort was made by a band of amateur firefighters to keep the fire from the cartridges, but without avail, and within half an hour bullets were flying all round. Both firefighters and spectators had to take cover whilst tne explosions continued for an hour.
