KERBSTONE GREETING.

MONASH TO ALLENBY.

OFFICIALDOM’S ATTITUDE,

MELBOURNE, Jan. L2. Strong comment is being mado on the fact that Sir John Monash, Australia’s greatest soldier, Commander-in-Chiof of the A.I.F. in France, and member of tho Council of Det'encm a purely honorary post, was not officially invited to meet Lord Allenby at Spencer street yesterday. Sir John stood at the corner of Collins and William streets and joined with tho crowd in giving Lord Allenby a cheer as ho drovo past in a motor car. Sir John, being a citizen soldier, was also allowed to greet the Prince of Wales in Melbourne from tho foot-, path.
