SALE OF YEARLINGS. Mr 1. G. Duncan, who recently transferred his well-known Waikanae stud to Elderslie, in the So’.tk Island, held his first sale of yearlings from thero in Wellington yesterday. Tho sale was favoured by a very large attendance, quite the largest that has been seen at bloodstock sales for some time, and the pricos obtained were good, the bidding being keen. Nine lots were offered, and all were disposed of for a grand total of 4700 guineas, an average of just over 522 guineas per lot. Top prices were given for the last two youngsters offered, Mr W. H. Gaisford, owner of the crack two-year-old Commendation, going to 900 guineas before lie secured colt (first foal), by Kilbroney from Fulsome, own sister to Humbug and Epitaph. Mr Vivian Riddiford paid 800 guineas for a colt by Kilbroney from Bonnie Maid (half-sister to Ladoga and winner of the Great Northern Oaks and St. Leger). Details of tho sale are as follow:
