WATERSIDE DISPUTE.
BOWEN AGAIN. FEELING RUNS HIGH. BRISBANE, Jan. 14. The oversea steamer Royal City wanted to take 500 tons of bunker coal at Bowen, but did not owing to a dispute. The watersiders claimed that tho work of hooking on the trucks to the crane was their work, and tho Harbour Board decided to do it with its own men. Neither side would give way. Conferences were held, with no result. Feeling is running very high here over the matter. Tho Harbour Board will make every effort to prevent the working of tho crane getting into the hands of tho watersiders, who could make tho export of coal so costly that Bowen could not successfully compete with other coalfields for the export trade.
