LLOYD GEORGE OR VESUVIUS,
ITALY’S REVIVAL
LONDON, Jan. 11
Mr Lloyd George, in an interview with a representative of tho Daily News, commented on tho wonders of tho eruption of Mount Vesuvius. He referred to a political opponent’s description of himself as “Tho Vesuvius of British - politics,” and added: “Anyhow, Vesuvius isn’t extinct, and it still creates extraordinary fertility around itself.” He declared that ho was deeply impressed by Italy’s prosperity, thriving industries, and strong, proud, a|id purposeful national spirit. “It is an Imperialistic spirit,” ho said, “and may, like Vesuvius, become active. When tho crater fills and overflows, the direction tho stream takes will bo all-important, deciding whether the convulsion will wreak destruction or £ <irtilise waste places.” '
