THEFT OF GEMS.

JEWELLER ROBBED IN STREET. NEW YORK, Jan. 12. Another daring daylight robbery has been successfully carried out m a crowded New York street. During the busiest part of the afternoon a jeweller was taking uncut diamonds worth £20,000 to a bank for deposit in the safety vault. In Fifth Avenue he was attacked by three men, who seized tho gems and rushed away in a motor car. Motorist and police who saw the theft joined in a wild chase which lasted an hour.

But tho robbers escaped with their booty.
