GOVERNOR ASKS FOR GAOL.
“TIME TO SPARE.” WASHINGTON, Jan. 9. It is soldom that a man offers to go to gaol in place of another; 'ad probably never before has such a volunteer been a millionaire. But Chase Osborn, LL.D., who was Governor of Michigan in 1911-1912, has asked Mr Coolidge’s permission to serve a sentonoo in place of ex-Governor McCray, of Indiana. Governor McCray was convicted on a charge of embezzlement. Chase Osborn is a journalist, and has owned several newspapers in Michigan. He is a distinguished entomologist as well, and discovered the source of tho firefly’s light. He is a multi-millionaire, and says he has no wife or dependants, and plenty of time to spare.
