AFGHAN FRONTIER.
INVASION IN PROGRESS. NOT REGARDED AS MENACE. Received December 29. 12.5 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 28. A Soviet invasion of Afghanistan is now in progress, but it is not regarded as a serious menace. It is thought that a small adjustment of the frontiers along tho river Oxus, dividing Bokhara and Afghan Badakshan, will settle tlie dispute. The Soviet’s policy is clearly to encourage nationalistic aspirations among tlie races along the northern boundaries of Afghanistan, which is acting as a buffer state between the Soviet controlled provinces and India. Britain is most friendly to Amir Amanullah, to whom she recently presented two aeroplanes, whereof the Amir is very proud.—Sydney Sun cable.
