Nearly 6000 people in Wellington booked trips by the railways from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day inclusive Thorndon had the heaviest traffic of the three booking offices by a large margin. The frequent representations made by the Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce to the Postmaster-General for a. more central site for the Post Office have proved successful. Steps are now being taken to acquire an area of land at tho rear"of the Bank of New South Wales with a frontage to Main street and Mangahao road.
