GOVERNMENT PURCHASE.
LAND FOR SETTLEMENT. MASTERTON, Dec. 28. Further details of the negotiations for the purchase by the Government of portion of Tupurupuru station, near Masterton, for closer settlement, show that a block of 1200 acres has been chosen. The price is said to bo £lB per acre. The total area of the station is approximately 8000 acres. It is understood that the property will bo taken over within the .next month or two to suit the convenience of the vendors, the trustees of the estate of Sir Walter Buchanan, as regards the salo of stock, etc. Meanwhile, the work of surveying for sub-division will be taken in hand immediately.
