SYRIAN WAR.
IMPROVED SITUATION. DAMASCUS REGION CALMEST. PARIS, Dec. 25. A Beirut despatch says that the general situation in Syria is improving, tho Damascus region being the calmest. A new military post has been established in Lebanon following a complete clearance of rebel bands from tho Aleppo region, where two bandit chiefs were captured,—A. and N.Z. cable.
armistice still unconfirmed ~PARIS, Dec. 25. Unconfirmed Damascus despatches state that the Foreign Office signed an armistice with the Druses, suspending all Syrian hostilities. M. de Jouyenal , 1 1!IS admitted tho negotiations, but it is believed that the report of signing : s premature.—A. and N.Z. cable.
