WOMEN MEMBERS' OF UPPER HOUSE.

SYDNEY, Dec. 26. Both Houses of Parliament have adjourned until January. 12. The Assembly passed the Constitution Amendment Bill, enabling women to be appointed to the Upper House. ’—Press Association.

GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS. SYDNEY, Dec. 26. The Government intends to appoint three or four women to the Legislative Council when Parliament resumes on January 12. Although Cabinet has not yet come to a definito decision, it is proposed that a bill will be brought down in the Legislative Council to abolish that chamber forthwith. It is officially announced’ that the Governor has no intention of resigning as he acted as he did in connection with the Upper House appointments on the advice of the Colonial Office.— Press Association.
