PRINCE OF WALES.

“IMPERISHABLE SERVICES.”

MR LLOYD GEORGE’S TRIBUTE,

LONDON, Nov. 6. A graceful reference to the Prince of Wales was mado by Mr D. Lloyd George at York on the occasion of the receipt of his 35th civic freedom. Ho said: “There are great names on York’s roll of freemen and politicians and statesmen, great warriors and ‘very many grades and shades of Royalty.’ But there is one name among the Royalty there that stands out for the imperishable services he has rendered to the British Empire, and that is the present Prince of Wales. (Cheers.) “There is hardly an individual in history—l cannot for the moment recall one—who has rendered greater services in strengthening the Empire, not by arms, but by the attraction of a winsome personality, than the present Prince of Wales. It will always be a source of very, great pride to me that I was Prime Minister of this country when he inaugurated that dazzling series of tours throughout the Empire, which will ever be memorable in its great story. I am proud to be on the list where you have the Prince of Wales among its latest names.”
