DISASTER AT YAP. NOT A HOUSE LEFT STANDING. SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 23. A report that Yap, a small island in the Caroline Group in the North Pacific, was swept by a tidal wave and devastated, is published in Hoclii Slia, the Japanese language newspaper of Honolulu. Confirmation of the report lias not. been received from any other source. The cable between Guam and Yap has been interrupted since December 16. Hochi Sha said there was not a single house left standing on the island, which has an area of 79 square mjles and a population of several thousands.
