FEILDING NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Lately the buttermaker at the Rangiwahia dairy factory, Mr L. M. Rogers, has been appointed managor and Mr Hayden, of Dargavillo, as assistant. On Sunday a large gathering of local people assembled at also visi. lors from Taihape and Mangaweka. when tile now Catholic Church was consecrated by Archbishop O’Shea. The addresses were given by the Archbishop and Father Harnett. The church was opened free from debt.

Several Foilding and district residents have left for the south l —Mr C. G. C. Dormer, of Cheltenham, for the Royal Show at Christchurch; Rev. T. Miller to attend, tho sittings of the Presbyterian General Assembly at Dunedin, and Mr and Mrs Geo. Bartholomew to visit tho exhibition. Mr Bartholomew is also a delegate to the Presbyterian Assembly.

CRICKET.

A meeting of cricketers was held in Mr Penney’s office last evening to consider tho question of forming another team to play B grado. Mr A. E. Sandford presided and explained the position. He said that quite a number of intending players had sent apologies for absence and there would be no difficulty in getting a strong team. Mr Sandford suggested that a new club should bo formed and he moved to that effect. The motion was carried.

Tho name decided on was the Feilding Wanderers. The subscription was fixed at 10s with 5s for those under 21. Eighteen names were handed in as members. A further meeting will bo called after Saturday’s play. Practice will bo held on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Kowhai Park.
