RECOUNT IN TARANAKI.
NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 9
The official recount of votes cast in the general election in the Taranaki electorate was completed to-night, but till the absentee votes are counted tomorrow the final result will not be known. On polling day Mr C. E. Bellringer (R.) had a lead of 51 votes from S. G. Smith (Nationalist). It is understood that the recount deprives Mr Bellringer of a few votes which go to Mr Smith’s total, narrowing the margin. There are 520 absentee votes to count.
