CHURCH OF CHRIST.
There was a very large attendance last night at the Campbell Street Church of Christ when an address was delivered by Evangelist Priestly, of Enmore, Sydney, who is at present on holiday in New Zealand. Speaking on the subject of the “Modern Pilate,” lie reviewed the closing days of the trial before Pilate—his compromise, the cowardice. So to-day the Christ stood before men for their judgment. “The Modern Pilate is the man who, having considered the claims of Christ and having concluded that these claims of Christ are true, yet from cowardice dare not, or will not take his t>rtand for Christ to-day. So to-day tho man who turns his back upon Him is just as guilty as the Roman governor. Christ is crucified amongst men! Think of young men and women of to-day. The young men and women of our colleges, our universities, the young men and women of the business world —claimed by tho dance hall and the mad pleasures of the world—tho Sunday picnics and all that sort of thing. Christ is being crucified afresh in the world when men, professedly Christians, buttress up the trafficking in gambling and liquor. Men must rise to their manhood, take their courage into their hands, and stand boldly out for the Christ and those things His name stands for.”
