TERRIFIC EXPLOSION.
DAMAGE TO GASWORKS HOUSES SEVERELY SHAKEN. I Received November 9, 10.20 a.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 9.
A terrific explosion demolished tho four walls of a tar distilling plant at the_ council’s gasworks at Heideberg. A fire followed, but it was quickly extinguished. Houses for a considerable distance were severely shaken: The damage amounts to many thousands of pounds. —Press Association.
