GOLF.
NOVEMBER BOGEY. AVith the inclement weather on Saturday, afternoon very few competitors took part in the November bogey and only six cards’ were returned. First place was tied for by H. G. Bagnall (hep. 5) and AV. A. Keeling (hep. 4) with one down. The other cards returned were: E. G. Sim (hep. 4) two down; C. Louisson (hep. 5) two down; B. Cumberworth (hep. 16) two down; AV. L. Fitzherbert (hep. 5) four down.
Tho season will close with the usual mixed foursomes on Saturday next, and entries will be taken up to and including Friday. Intending players are requested to send in their partners’ names and, if possible, these of their opponents. Owing to the visit of tho AVarwicksliires there will be a very large number of players on the links, and therefore it will be wise if members send in' their entries early and thus ensure a game. At the conclusion of the mixed foursomes the prizes won during tho season will be presented. During the week-end the local links were visited by a party from the Dannevirke Club, this being in connection with improvements to be effected at the Tahoraiti links. GOLF ENTHUSIAST. ENGAGES ABE MITCHELL. LONDON, Oct. 25. The Daily Mail says that Mr Samuel Ryder, a St. Albans golfing enthusist, has engaged Abe Mitchell for three syears at a salary of £SOO a year, and :C250 expenses, as a private professional, which will enable Mitchell to participate in tournaments and prepare for championships. Mr Ryder aims at placing the British professional on an equality with Hagen, Barnes and other Americans.
