CLAY BIRD SHOOTING. The Palmerston North Gun Club held its third cup match and sweepstakes on Saturday afternoon under difficult conditions, the weather being cold with a tricky southerly wind. Nevertheless, some excellent shooting was forthcoming, the detuiled results of which were as under: —

Third cup match and sweep.—P. A. Meehan and S. Sievert shared the honours, both accounting for all eight birds. H. Best filled third position with seven, while sixes were returned by C- T. Podjursky, N. D. Stubbs and C. A. Rofe.

Second sweep.— J. Nuttall, H. Nuttall, H. Best, A. Thomson, A. L. Cook, S. Sievert and P. A. Meehan all secured seven of the possible eight birds, and in the shoot-off H. Nuttall won with S. Sievert second. Double rise.—This event was won outright by. H. Best with 10 points and three double rises, P. A. Meehan being second with nine points, K. Thomson third with eight points.and S. Sievert fourth with seven points.
