FISHER PLATE WON BY PILLIEWINKIE.

MELBOURNE, ’ Nov. 8. There was fine warm weather for the Flemington races and the attendance was large. The going was hard. There was a great race for the Batman Stakes, the Sydney gelding, Amounis, who was fourth early in the race, winning narrowly. Amounis cost A. P. Wade 2500 guineas in September, and he has won five races this season. Ken Bracken rode the winner. F. Dempsey’s mount, Cyanate, was always well placed in the Flemington Stakes and won smartly from Heroic’s brother, Thracian. Cyanate cost his owner - trainer, Sid Ferguson, " 350 guineas. This is Dempsey’s fourth successive win in this event.

Tho New Zealand horse, Pilliewinkie, made a great run in the C. B. Fisher Plate and won brilliantly from the favourite, Windbag. It was a slow race in the early part, tho first two furlongs being covered in 33sec and the mile in 1.52. Pilliewinkie’e rider, GS Young, had a great reception.

King’s Pardon had a big lead early in the V.R.C. Handicap and was narrowly beaten in an exciting finish by Our Prince, who, at the start, was second to last. The winner is owned in Adelaide. Agricolo led nearly all the way in the Victoria Steeplechase and scored comfortably, thus registering his fourth successive win. This is his rider Inkson’s third win in jumping races at this meeting. Tho total stakes for the meeting were £42,473. The first prize in the Fisher Plate was £llls. Results:— BATMAN STAKES.
