The Waikouaiti is due to leave at any time for Sydney with a small consignment, but there is little interest in this business now the Auckland demand has slackened to small dimensions. April-June business has been done on a basis of -C5 5s to £5 7s Gd f.o.b. S.I. With the prospect of a heavy sowing this appears a fair price, and is not attractive at the moment to the buyer. The oat market remains firm. A Cartons are being quoted at 4s lOd f.o.b. 5.1., and B’s at 4s Gd, tho Southland rate being 2d higher. A pronounced advance, however, has taken place in Algerians due to North Island inquiry. As a result of the Australian price advancing, machine-dressed clipped Algerians have been sold at 5s f.o.b. 5.1., an advance of 9d a bushel on a few weeks ago. Prices to farmers are from 3s to 3s Gd. Apart from business in this class the oat market is very dull. Cocksfoot is very firm, due to inquiry from the north and the fact that Danish seed has advanced. Standard seed is worth lid per lb. Export business in partridge peas keeps moving, and there will be a good consignment going forward by tho Dorset next week, which should about finish up the export business. There is no change in the ryegrass or clover market. LONDON TALLOW SALES. LONDON, Nov. 4. At the tallow sales 1227 casks were offered and 544 were sold. Prices were unchanged, except for good mixed, which declined Gd per cwt. —A. and N.Z. cable. One of the successful exhibitors of Jersey cattle at the Spring Show was Mr W. Mr Devine gained second prize for cow, visibly in calf, calved prior to July, 1922; second for heifer calved since July 1, 1922; very highly commended for bull calved prior to July Ist, 1922, and highly commended for heifer calved since July 1923.
