In, the Legislative Assembly, Mr Lang, Premier, announced that the Government had decided to adjourn the Assembly till November 17 to enable members to participate in the Federal election campaign.—Press Association. SINGLE SEATS. BILL PASSES - ALL STAGES. SYDNEY, Nov. 4. The Legislative Assembly put through all its stages a bill to abolish proportional representation and to substitute single seat electorates, with the “first past the post” system. A motion by Mr Bavin' to adopt preferential voting in single scat electorates was rejected.—Press ‘Association. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WOMEN MEMBERS BARRED. SYDNEY, Nov. 4. 'flic Legislative Council rejected by 28 votes to 25 a bill to allow women to sit in the Council.—Press Association.
