The polling on the licensing issue in the Palmerston electorate resulted in a reduction of the 1922 prohibition majority over continuance and State control from 545 to 76, while the number of votes cast for State control was more than doubled on the present occasion—s 94 as compared with 246 three years ago. The figures are, of course, subject to the official recount.
