Mr Harold Livingston Taplev, the Independent Reform candidate, who defeated Mr J. W. Munro, tlie sitting Labour member for Dunedin North, is Mayor of Dunedin. From 190? to 1911 lie was a member of the Dunedin City Council, and from 1908 to 1911 lie was a member of the Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. He was a member of the Otago Harbour Board from 1913 to 1929, and was chairman of the board in 1919 and 1929. In 1921 he was again elected to the City Council, and two years later he was elected Mayor. The famous Australian ladies’ Pipe Band will play at the Esplanade on Sunday afternoon. An announcement appears in our advertising columns with regard to an art union to be drawn on November 11th, in aid of a Lewisham hospital at Wellington.
