AUSTRALIAN NOTES. MELBOURNE, Nov. 2. Manfred won £18,242 in prize money. The first prize in the Melbourne Cup to-morrow is £10,215. At Elcmington to-day Pilliewinkie ran a mile and three furlongs easily in 2 min 42sec. Friarsdale and Stand By ran a mile in lmin 47sec., and Royal Roue did a mile in lmin 481 sec. At Caulfield Spearfelt did the best half-mile in 50sec., and Susie Pye the best five furlongs in lmin 2j[sec. Rampion has been scratched for all engagements at Flemington. To-day’s weather is bright and the Cup Day prospects are favourable.— Press Association.
