MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Tlio regular meeting of the management committee ol the Manawatu Cricket Association was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs F. J. Oakley (in the chair), A. M. Ongley, J. A. Smith, J. 11. Wilson, F. S. C. Hubbard, R. B. Ross and G. K. Hollier. The Wellington Association wroto suggesting that tho annual Town v. Country match be played on December 28 and 29. Tho opinion was expressed that the date did not permit of any country players qualifying for inclusion in the Wellington provincial team, 'and it was decided that tho southern association ho written to requesting' that .the date of tho gamo bo amended to permit of the match being played prior to the Plunket Shield games being entered upon. The director, Palmerston Noil.li Technical School, wrote applying for admission for a school team in the Saturday third ghide competitions- - Although tho date of closing of nominations Had passed, it’was decided to admit the school, the matter ot the adjustment of the draw being author ised. It was decided that the holiday break in the competitions at the Christmas season be observed from December 19 to January 9 in the case •pf Saturday seniors and juniors, and Torn December 10 to January 13 in the ease of the mid-week series, the competitions to resume on the latter dates in each instance. Mr J. A- Smith was appointed oificial bell ringer for the ensuing seaion, while Messrs Oakley, Smith anil Hollier were appointed a grounds and postponement committee. The question of transferring a senior match to the Terrace Knd Park was discussed, it being maintained by Air Boss that everything in the nature of added expenditure to the clubs for tho preparation of wickets at the Terraco End Park was to be deprecated. Mr 'Smith mentioned that he had understood from the reserves committee’s report to the Borough Council that tho cost of preparation of wickets at Terraco Eli dwoulcl be 10s per wicket per Saturday over and above tho £SO per season at present paid lor the use of the Sportsground. In referring to the indifferent condition of the wicket at tho lower end of the Sportsground, Mr Ongley stated that, with proper attention, an excellent wicket could be procured at Terraco End, but it would requii'o much watering and Tolling. On being informed that no water supply was available at the Terraco End Park, the speaker added

that such situation put the proposition out of the question, for without watering the ground and pitches would become, dangerous. Finally it was decided that, prior to taking any action in the matter, the committee await a reply from the council to tho association’s letter. Mr Smith brought up the subject of classification which, lie explained, was an important one to the R.S.A. Club at present. While the club possessed some 15 seniors, tho junior team was at short strength, and it had been compelled to take the field 'on Saturday with eight men. As no communication had been received from the club applying for tile ro-clfissification of any of its players, it was decided that .no action could bo taken in tho meantime.
