DROWNING FATALITY.

ATTEMPT TO SWIM ACROSS RIVER. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Nov. 2. William Rawiri, a well-known native, 30 years of age. a married man, was drowned in the Wairau river on Saturday night. He attended a political meeting and was making for homo by a short cut, intending to row across the river to his home. The boat was gone and Rawiri attempted to swim across and presumably was drowned. His clothes and bicycle wore found on the bank, but there was no traco of the missing man.
