LINTON RIFLE CLUB.

OPEN RANGE SEASON COMMENCED.

The Linton Rifle Club—opened its outdoor range shooting season at Aokautere yesterday, when there was a good muster of riflemen. Unfortunately the conditions, particularly- in the advanced stages of the afternoon, proved extremely difficult, a stiff wind which swept straight down the range upsetting many of the participants. Tne shooting comprised sweepstake matches of ten shots at, the 300, 500 and 000 yards ranges. The aggregate cash prize match was won by J. C. Carter, who also secured a bottle of wine donated by Mr R. W. Ramsay for the best score in the 300 yards shoot. The individual scorers (with handicaps) were as under:—J. C. Carter, 48, 39, 43—130; F. R. Lewis, 44, 39, 42—125; L. H. Jones, 44, 46, 32 122; T. Edwards, 38, 43, 40—121; L. G. Loveday, 40, 41, 38—119; J. H. Griffiths, 43, 38, 36—117; H. Barlow, 40, 43, 33—116; W. A. Ball, 41, 43, 32—116; R. A. Jones, 47, 32, 36—115; J. Kvle, 42, 40. 32—114; C. J. Page, 41. 42, 31—114; G. Shelley, 41, 41, 29 —111; W. Randeli; 41, 33, 32—106; R. W. H.
