COSTLY EXPERIMENT
“GASPIPE” RIFLE EXPLODES. BOY SUSTAINS SERIOUS INJURIES. Gordon Hudson, aged 14, was admitted to the Palmerston North. Hospital last evening from Levin, suffering from serious injuries to the eyes and abrasions to the face. It is reported th'at the lad made a rifle out of an old gaspipe, also manufacturing his own powder. The ultimate discharge of the home-made weapon resulted in the above injuries. BOY BREAKS AN ARM. Cecil James, aged 9, of Palmerston North district, fell and sustained a rather bad bregk of his arm this morning. Later he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
