PARALYSIS CONVALESCENTS.
SPECIAL TREATMENT AT R 0 I UrtUA. FIFTEEN SENT YESTERDAY. Fifteen infantile paralysis convalescents left Palmerston North yesterday afternoon en route to Rotorua, for special treatment at King George V. Hospital. Ten of the patients were from the local hospital, while tile remaining five joined up from their homes. The party, which was in charge of two members’ of the nursing staff, was accommodated in a special sleeper coupled up to the front of the Main Trunk express. The children were not allowed to leave without a tangible- expression of the interest felt by residents of this town in their welfare, for in the morning Messrs A. Hannay and P. T. Robinson had collected a good sum which was spent in purchasing fruit, books and toys for distribution among the little sufferers. Also prominent at the station were the members of the ladies’ committee of the Hospital Saturday campaign, who arrived with a dozen hot water bottles for use on a very cold journey, and with a quantity of fruit, cakes and biscuits and books. Dr Thwigg, who had much to do with the children when a member of the hospital staff, was also there to bid the* patients good-bye, shaking hands with each of them and wishing them a speedy recovery to health.
