A meeting of the prohibition executive was held last night in St. Andrew’s Hall, when reports were received front the various committees, Mr 11. E. Paccy presiding. Owing to Mr Lambert’s removal front Palmerston North, his resignation as convener of the meetings committee was accepted, Mr Harris being appointed in bis place. As a result of the plebiscite, on the night of meeting, there was a majority in favour of Monday. It was resolved: ‘‘That a note of appreciation be sent to Rev. C. C. Harrison for his services.” Mr Low reported on the membership and rolls committee and asked that there be a large attendance of workers at. the next meeting. The Y.P.’s committee reported on re-opening up of the Band of Hope. In connection with the political programme, it was resolved to approach the present member for the district, Mr J. A. Nash, asking him to receive a deputation from the temperance people of Palmerston North at an early date, so that local leaders might present the case against some of the proposals of the recent licensing commission on the ground that they were not in the interest of temperance reform. Arrangements were left in the hands of the public meetings committee irt connection with the special visit of Rev. Lionel Fletcher, of Auckland, who has promised to speak hero on August 14th.
