Cocker’s Pride, minus saddle and bridle, the animal and rider proving quite at home under such novel conditions.

Wo have received from Senor Humberto Bidone, Consul for the Argentine, a copy of his rqpently published novel, “Slave of Sorrow,” which has been dedicated to all his friends in the Dominion, and which is oti sale in Palmerston North, at A. L. Westmoreland’s. All profits which may accruo from the publication, which is a personal tribute to the kindness and the generosity which the Government, public institutions and private individuals of the Dominion have shown towards him, are to be devoted to the Wellington Hospital. The novel was translated by Mr Grobvenor from the Spanish of tho author and should, apart from the author’s gonerosity to tho Wellington Hospital, find a ready sale as the plot is decidedly interesting.
