NEW FIRE STATION.
TENDERS TO BE CALLED FOR. “In view of the very unsatisfactory conditions obtaining at tile present station, and of tho additional expense incurred owing to non-utilisation ot the new site since its purchase two years ago, and seeing that loan money is now available for the purpose, it is to be hoptd that .the erection of the new central station will be commenced without further delay,” was a paragraph contained in a report submitted to yesterday’s annual meeting of the Palmerston North Fire Board by Air T. T. Hugo, Government inspector of fire brigades. Mr S. S. Dean, of Wellington, moved that the architect be instructed to immediately call for tenders for the new station, as per plans and specifications already approved. The motion was agreed to without discussion.
