At Wellington to-duy Victoria College beat the Sydney University touring team by 16 points to 8. The first spell was fast and open, while the second was notable for an improvement in the home team's tactics against the wind. \ ictoria College won by better generalship and cohesion of their back line in which Walpole and tlic three-quarters played like champions. The first spell was lively, the home back line making violent efforts to open up against the visiting forwards. Sydney scored first, Johnstone crossing a “blind side” move. The kick failed. Five minutes later Victoria College gained the lead, Walpole crossing after a fast rush and Oregon converted brilliantly. The home team scored again at once, Martin-Smith crossing and Oregon converting. Oregon next kicked a penalty. Sydney countered, Lamfort corkscrewing his way through for Williams to convert.—Victoria College 13, Sydney 8. The second spell was a long, even struggle, in which the homo side’s tactics wero superior. There was no score till the last minute, when Kells crossed for Victoria College and the New Zealand players won 16-8.
