SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY. WON BY FEILDING TEAM. At the Sportsground yesterday, a men’s seven-a-side tourney for tlio Cliffe and Remington medals was contested, the trophies going to the Wellesley (Feildiug) representatives who defeated C. and C. in the final by one goal to nil. The Indies’ Wednesday games in which Foxton, Technical Old Girls, High School Old Girls and West End Old Girls participated were productive of some bright play. All the games were keenly contested and the scores in the ladies’ matches are not ail indication as to tho nature of the play. Two periods of seven minutes, with one minute spells, were played in tho men’s tourney, a hit behind from tho circle to decide the game in the event of no score being reached at the call of time. Following were the results; First round: Wellesly beat C. and C. A; Palmerston North A heat C. and C. B; Phoenix beat Palmerston North B. Second round: C. and C. A beat Palmerston North A; Phoenix beat C. and C. B; Wellesly boat Palmerston North B. Third round: C. and C. A beat Palmerston North A; Wellesly beat Phoenix. FINAL. In tho final, Wellesly (red) were rushed by C. and C. (blue) but Tiguo made a nice save and averted the immediate. danger, although blues continued to press hard. The reds were kept on the defensive for a space and matters looked serious when a player received an injury and play was stopped. On the resumption, blues attacked and made a determined assault, Lloyd, attempting a difficult shot which was blocked. Half-time sounded with the score unopened. In the second spell reds attacked but blues managed to secure the ball and Nicliol made a brilliant dash down the line, the ball going out in red territory. Neither side appeared to have the advantage and time sounded with no score either way. In the play off, blues made a determined effort and Lloyd was unlucky in an attempt to hit behind losing the ball in a scrummage in tho circle. Reds rallied and a passing rush carried play to enemy territory where Scotney shot the only goal in the match. COMPETITION GAMES.

In the H.S.O.G. v. W.E.O.G. match, the former did non have matters all their own way as the score s—l5 —l appears to indicate. W.E.O.G. put up a still’ fight and Were unlucky on several occasions. For the winners Miss M. Waters scored 4 goals and Miss Hands 1. W.E.O.G’s score being secured by Miss M. Newth. In their match against Foxton, T.O.G. had a fairly easy win although for beginners, Foxton put up a sterling struggle. Weak hitting had much to do with tlieir failure. The scorers were Messrs Isaacs (3) and Simmons (1) for T.O.G. and Miss Patterson for Foxton.

Tho games were controlled by Messrs Wilson, Artcliison, Nasmith, Cousins, Dixon and Toner. Mi - T. Wall was tournament manager.
