LATE JUDGE COOPER.

COLLEAGUES TRIBUTE

Per Piere Association.

AUCKLAND, May 20. There were expressions of reg ret at die death of Judge Sir Theophilus Cooper at the Supreme Court by the Bench and Bar. Speaking on behall: or Justices Herdman Reed and himself, Mr Justice Hosking stated that clcainess of speech, thoroughness and neatness of expression served in his eminence in practice at the Bar. Rather by quiet eloquence than ineffective shouting he had succeeded in his efforts. He (Mr Justice Hoskings) had sat with the late Sir Theophilus Cooper on the Court of Appeal, and there he was an industrious Judge, and one well equipped. Ho had left behind deeisions which had gone on reced'd. He was a kindly Judge to prae isie before; he had discharged his Juries in a manner which the Bench, He Bar and the public could (i.ese).'.ibe as being faithfully and well.
