TENIKOIT CLUB.

SUCCESSFUL WINTER SEASON. For the many tennis players who in winter have not the facilities afforded by hard courts, the Palmerston North Tenikoit Club established this year by Mr H .N. Watson, an enthusiastic member of the Palmerston North Tennis Club, is proving an ideal medium of recreation during the “off” season. Play is indulged in every Saturday afternoon at one of the spacious halls at the Showgrounds, and as evidence of the success attendant upon the formation of the club it may be stated that the membership is now over 60. Four courts are in use and are filled from 2 to 6 p.m. each Saturday. There are quite as many lady players as men and they are just as keen as the late ter on this, ideal winter indoor sport. It is of inlerest to note that some of the best tenikoit players are those who figure amongst the best tennis exponents, which would appear to indicate that the new game has an important bearing on keeping devotees of the racket in form for the summer. As an additional attraction the club proposes to provide for the playing of deck quoits, and two rinks will be prepared. It is hoped to have them ready for play by next Saturday, but if not the;,- will certainly he in commission on the following Saturday. To add to the enjoyment of the club’s afternoons, tea is dispensed, and on each occasion several hours are spent in excellent recreation. , The management advise that they will be most pleased on all occasions to see present at the matches ladies and others interested and who desire to see an exhibition of tenikoit.
