HAPHAZARD METHODS CONDEMNED.
LONDON, May 17. Addressing ihe University Conservative Association at Oxford, the Premier, Mr Stanley Baldwin, enlarged upon the desirableness of improving the productive capacity of 111 ? Empire and tfie co-ordin-ation of the scientific work done in different parts of t le Empire, not only as regards production but also health and sanitation. lie said that we had allowed the Empire too long to proceed along haphazard lines, and hoped ihat the appointment of Earl Balfour to the Presidency of the Council would be regarded as an earnest of the Government’s intention to see that the aforementioned matters should be regarded a; the first work of a man supremely qualified to take that position.— A. and N.Z. cable.
