UP-TO-DATE STEAMERS.
FOR CARRYING CHILLED MEAT.
LONDON, May 17.
The Blue Star Line is owned by Vestoy’s, intention is to replace t-lic steamers on the Argentine-London chilled meat service with an up-to-date fleet-* of express steamers. Sir Edmund Vesteysaid that patriotic motives induced hmi and his brother themselves to pay out £300,000 more than the cost of the steamers would have been if built on the Continent. They were of tho opinion that the present one* sided free trade which enabled damaging Competition to come from the Continent resulted in cruelty to the British workers, Fair trade should replace free trade across the Union Jack. —Reuter.
