TO A. AND P. SHOWGROUNDS
The question of the admission of members’ and non-members’ cars to the grounds during show time was discussed at length at this morning s meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Johnston should be a sub-committee (with power to act) to investigate the possibilities of allowing members to park their cars on the grounds at a fee of 2s bd. Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., considered that it would not be fair to differentiate between members’ and nonihembers’ cars, and, for that reason and also horn the revenue viewpoint, he would move an amendment that ail cars be admitted. . , , . Mr M. A. Eliott seconded the amendm<Mr J. M. Johnston supported the finance committee’s recommendation, stating that members of the association, had the right to more privileges than the general public. If they were not given privileges they would cornplain. The question of whether nonmembers’ cars should be admitted at an increased charge could he considered later. ' The president (Mr J. H. Perrett) supported the finance committee’s recommendation, stating that members might even complain at liuving to pay 2s bd. In reply, Mr Nash pointed out that the revenue would benefit to a greater extent by the admission of all cars. There was ample room for parking behind the stand. The amendment was then put to the meeting, and, the voting being equal —l7 for and 17 against—the chairman gave bis vote against. The finance committee’s recommendation was then put and carried. Mr Nash then asked that a count be taken of the cars, admitted at . the next show, and this was agreed to.
