WOMEN’S NOTES

MAREE-LAHOOD. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised on May 6th at St. Mel a Catholic Church,' Campsie, Sydney, when B. Shora, only son of Mrs and the Into Z. Afaree, of 22 Waldcgravo street, Palmerston North, was united in matrimoiy to Miss Nellie Lahood, second daughter of Mr and Airs J. Lahood, of Evaline street, Campsie, Sydney. Rev. Father Fitzpatrick conducted the service. Ihe bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a gown rf brocaded crcpe-de-ehcne, trimmed with silver tissue and ostrich feathers. She wore a long veil and carried a beautiful bouquet of cactus dahlias and maiden-hair fern. The bride was attended by Miss H. (Billie) Maree, of Sydney, a cousin of tho bridegroom. She was ‘daintily attired in a dress of flame-embossed georgette with satin trimmings-, and wore a pearl head-dress and carried u bouquet of orange "actus dahlias. Mr G. Hannah, of Dannevirke, New Zealand, acted as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bridesmaid was a string of handsome pearls. A reception was held at tho bride’s parents’ residence, after which tho happy couple left by car for Manly, prior to leaving by tho Manngarnii en route to New Zealand. J lie bride travelled in a cinnamon brown marocaiu frock, trimmed with fur, and hat to mutch. The presents received both at the reception and on arrival at their future home in Palmerston North were many, varied und valuable. FREE MEDICAL ATTENDANCE. LONDON, April 17. A Geneva telegram says that, the SvyiSs municipality of Baden has decided to give free medical and nursing attendance to accouchements to all marriod S .viss. women who lived last year in tho Aigovie Canton.—A. and N.Z. cable.
