TILDEN’S CHOICE
WILL Bit TENNIS JOURNALIST.
CANNOT PLAY FOR DAVIS CUP. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received May 19, 12.30 p.m. LONDON, May 18. Mr Powell Blackmore, writing in the Evening Standard, says: “Tilden has written to me, stating that, as he cannot be both, he intends to be a tennis journalist in preference to a tennis player. Therefore America will have to defend the Davis Cup minus its greatest player at a time when Anderson and Patterson are making a most serious bid for the trophy.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
