A severe shortage cf coke was mentioned in the report of the ana manager (Mr C. W. Healey) to the meeting of the Borough Council last night. Tne report stated tho shortage was causing a certain amount of hardship upon certain industries and others depending upon a sufficient supply of this commodity. After consultation with the chairman of the gas committee he had again had to resort to a system of rationing, and was endeavouring to supply on as equitable a basis as possible. Nevertheless, for the reason that the demand was so much greater than tlie supply, there was a lot of unavoidable diaappointment.
