BOROUGH BUSES.
MANAGER’S REPORT. IMPROVEMENTS SUGGESTED. The borough traffic manager (Mr P. G. Patton) reported as follows to the meeting of the Borough Council, last night.:—l have drafted a time-table for light buses on light runs. This will not come into force until we get our new bus on the rc<ad, but if the council approves of the time-table a heavy bins cun be used in the meantime. We have no time-tables for issue now and passengers are continually asking for them. I would suggest that, when vie get more time-tables to enclose in the boxes, the times of buses departing only be given, as at present they are confusing. I think if we made the Featherston street end of Campbell street a section, an improvement on that run could be made as at present we very seldom get passengers from there. I think also that h trial with, workers’ tickets would help to improve the 6ervice, that is, twelve rides for 2s at. certain times of the day, also, to make a Id and 2d charge on all parcels and luggage. I would like to have tho authority of the council to make all parked vehicles back in at an angle of sav 33 degrees. This would make it better for the moving traffic, while cam are. toth backing in and pulling out, and again lessen tho danger of damaging any low under-gear on the ears. The report was received, it being decided to paint white lines on the parking areas to instruct owners in the new method of parking:. The matter of workers’ tickets was held over. THE RETURNS. The manager presented the following $»- turns for March and April, giving the route, passengers curried for tile month on each, tlm total revenue, and the revenue per bus mile, followed by the grand total in each c ase : March: Hospital 13.629 £lB2 18s 6d, Is 5.5 d; Terrace End 13,938, £137 4e 6d, la 6d; Hokowhitu 6325, £74 2n 6d, 8.3 d: West End 6011, £76 7s lid, 9.8; Lyndhurst street 4033, £4B 18s 2d, 11.5; Esplanade 2683, £36 18s 6d, 15.02.
