PIG BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL REPORT. The report which is to bo presented to tho annual meeting of tho Now Zealand Big-bro6ders’ Association in Feilding noxt month, is as follows: — ’ Finances. —Although the profit shown in the income and expenditure account is less than last year, it will be noted that £179 19s has been written off for bad debts. This has tho effect of writing everything off duo by mombers who have not definitely resigned and who have not acknowledged any request for payment and subscriptions. Tho year, however, 6hows an increase in fees received and the association has invested £2OO in war bonds, and is carrying forward a credit balance of £566. Herd book, vol. VII. —This’volume of tho Herd Book is now out of the hands of the printer and will be forwarded to on receipt of subscription for 1925-1926.'' Last year the Herd Book was not available until July, making its uppearance this year very much earlier. It contains : 860 Berkshire entrios; 131 Tamworth; 11 Yorkshire; 27 Large Block; 19 Large Whites; total, 1048 entries. Sale. —Tho sale, as mombers have been advised, is to be ■ held ■at the Palmerston North Showgrounds in Juno. If successful, it will become.. an . annual sale. General.—The. eonudil lias under consideration alterations, in. the rules which will tend to make members more careful in their preparation of entries aoid help to eliminate erroneous ones; also the adoption of a litter record. These rules will, however, be submitted and discussed at the ajinual meeting. Council. —Messrs Bloor and Jacob hove resigned from the council. The thanks of members are duo to these gentlemen for tho work they have done. Messrs D. MacDonald, of Aorangi, and G. H. Barnett of Leeston, have been nominated to fill the vacancies. As no othor nominations have been received, these gentlemen will be declared elected. Mr E. J. Wackrill again offers his services as auditor. AYRSHIRE HERD. MR T. COLPMAN’S DISPERSAL SALE. The dispersal sale of Mr T. 11. Colpman’s stud Ayrshire herd was held at liis property, Ohau, on Saturday last, when 56 lots were offered to a large bench of buyers, including breeders from tho Waikato, Manawatu, Main Trunk, Canterbury and Taranaki.

The outstanding feature of the sale was tho seven-year-old cow Maesgwyn Princess, which was champion at the Royal Show, Palmerston North, and which fetched the record price for the breed of 505 gns after very spirited bidding, tho buying being Mill. R. Southee, of Walton ? Waikato. The only one of Maesgwyn Princess’s stock offered was tho ei'ght months bull To Rawa Princo of Wales, secured by Mr H. Southee (Waikato) for 4i gns. LAMB FROM AUSTRALIA. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 18. The Now Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received a cable from its representative in Australia, advising that 29,351 careases of lamb were exported from Australia for the fortnight ended May 15th.
