From Tiki Club (Wanganui) asking for matches. —Received, it being’ decided to invite the club to send a ladies’ and men’s team to play at Palmerston North on June 3rd. GENERAL. The school boys’ seven-a-sido tournament, originally scheduled for June 3, was, on account ot various oounter attractions, postponed until a later date A proposal that a men’s team be sent to Christchurch, as a suggested visit last year had had to bo abandoned, was discussed at length, the chairman stating that tor some years the trip had been owing, but financial difficulties had prevented it. However, the thought that it was up t° them to do what they could. Even if it meant abandoning the ladies’ trip to the annual tournament it was worth while. The association should concentrate on fostering men’s hockey ns the ladies’ were well on their feet and should bo taught to rely on their own resources They should assist themselves. Mon’s hockey was in a precurious state and something should bo done to remedy matters. Mr Broughton thought that it was hard that the present association should have to bear the brunt of the mistakes of past executives. . This opinion was agreed to by the chairman who said that in future they should work togethor and do what was possible to better conditions. Mdney had been spent foolishly in the past but he hoped that that was all past. Mr ClifTo thought that efforts on behalf of the ladies should not cense, but he agreed that it was impossible to get the ladies away to Dunedin this year. Mr Aitchison moved that a men’s team be sent to Canterbury, the date to bo left, to the southern players to fix. Mr Broughton seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Some discussion on the faiiuro of certain delegates to attend the meeting ensued and Mr Cliffe moved that such members be dropped from the executive. Mr Burges explained that the Palmerston North Headmasters’ Association had ruled that no teams be entered in any competitions without the consent of the teachers. Mr Cliffe then moved that the headmasters of the various schools be advised of the competitions and asking if same met with their approval. The former motion lapsed and the latter was carried, it being decided to hold entries open until next Monday. In icspcct. to the school girls’ competitions it was decided that the special committee approach the ladies’ committee with a view to having the primary school girls’ competitions being run under tiio jurisdiction of the association. It was resolved to advise the rector of the Boys’ High School that it w'as the intention of the association to conduct a Yankee tournaments on Thursdays for a trophy to bo donated by the association.
