Thero were heavy showers during last night, but the weather how;has a brighter outlook. Thursday and Friday were very muggy, but the weather is colder to-day. It is reported that several bridges were seriously damaged on the road to Marokopa, one concrete one over tie Kiretihere having dropped four feet lelow the road level. Two miles of road near the Marokopa dairy factory are under water up to four feet, and other parts are flooded to a lesser extent. Near Marokopa factory 30 feet of road has been completely washed away. The floods in the Kiretehero district are said to bo worst for 30 years. It will be impossible for the mail car to gut through for several days. Between To Kuiti and Pio Pio the passenger service curs had to tranship by dray, tho water being up to the floor of the cars, which were only able to get to Mahoenui yesterday, owing to slips on the Awakino Valley road. S)ip3 occurred frequently along the rsad faster than tho gangs could repair them. It is reported that the Aw ikino and Mokau rivers both burst their banks. A total of 7.18 inches of rain fell at Pio Pio for 52 hours. Thirteen rare were stranded there last night and could not get either way. A settler named Falk, had to leave his house at Pio Pio, owing to tho flood. Conditions show an improvement there to-day. . . The lines are down between lo Kuiti and Marokopa and there is no news this morning.
