The story of an enterprising New Zealander wag rolated at the Council of the Acclimatisation Society, at Wellington, by the Secretary, Mr G, I. Dasent. Ho said a lady had telegraphed him and asked if the society bought hawks’ heads. He replied that it did not. Later the same lady rang and asked if he knew anyone wbo did buy them. She admitted she had sold the feet of the one hawk she had secured to the society and now wanted someone to sell the head to. When tho laughty had subsided another member, Mr Wimn, said it reminded him °f two boys who collected cigarette packets for a One lad sent the fronts, the other the backs, and both received, photographs.
